Today most computers are connected to some kind of network, so it is an important requirement for many users / administrators that the operating system and application programs are updated with regards to security vulnerabilities. The presentation will describe how the FreeBSD project handles security vulnerabilities in the base system and Ports Collection and a bit about how a user / administrator can keep up-to-date with regard to software fixes when using FreeBSD.
Simon L. Nielsen has been a FreeBSD committer for 3 years and is currently the FreeBSD Deputy Security Officer.
Simon L. Nielsen has been a FreeBSD user since 2000 and a FreeBSD committer since 2003. He started out primarily working on the FreeBSD documentation and web site, but has since moved over to mainly work on FreeBSD security, currently as the Deputy Security Officer. Simon is also part of the FreeBSD Admins team which maintains the main FreeBSD.org servers.
