Public transport in Copenhagen is generally very good.
Transport by car is also good - outside of rush hours.
In general we recommend that you use public transport.
A good guide about the system and tips for use can be found at
www.visitcopenhagen.com.
For public transport, the area is divided into zones. You will be travelling in zones 1(Hostel) and 2(Symbion), plus 3 and 4 for the airport.
All types of public transport in the Copenhagen area use the same zone layout, and you can switch transport (Busses, S-trains, Metro) as you like, as long as your ticket is valid - usually 1 hour.
We suggest that you buy a 2-zone 10 trip ticket early, and use that.
Several people can share a 10 trip ticket (but you of course need a stamp for each).
One 2-zone 10 trip ticket is 120DKK.
The best way to get from the airport to the hostel is by train.
The station is at/under Terminal3 (which is where you will exit customs).
Take the first train to 'Helsingør station' and get off at 'København H'
(Copenhagen central station).
From Copenhagen central station you either:
To find the busses, go "up, into the station" (there is also an exit leading up onto the bridge crossing the tracks).
Go up the escalator, and go right. Keep going until you exit the station. You will be at a little square next
to the busses. If you get lost, ask for the "Tivoli entrance".
Show the bus driver your train ticket when you get on.
The price for the trip is 28.50DKK, and you need to buy at ticket before boarding the train.
We suggest that you buy a 2-zone 10 trip ticket at the airport, and stamp it
twice (as you need to pass 3 zones). If you travel two together 3 stamps is enough for both of you.
Traffic in Copenhagen is not very heavy compared to other large cities.
Parking however can be both expensive and hard to find.
Parking at Symbion (the venue) is generally bad at weekdays and OK in the weekend.
It is however free.
Parking at the hostel is fairly expensive. 15DKK per hour in daytime (08:00 - 22:00).
Finding a space is not easy.
Cabs in Copenhagen are reliable, and they all run by meter.
They all have a "Taxa" sign on the roof.
There are several companies, but as they all use the same meter, you should
not care.
The start fee is 19DKK (32DKK if booked via dispatch), and approx 12DKK per kilometer (16DKK/km at night).
All cabs take credit cards.
Some drivers want to validate the card before the trip, so tell the driver that you want to pay using credit card
when you get in.
We have hired a couple of busses to transport people from the conference hostel DANHOSTEL city to the conference venue at Symbion in the morning and back in the evening.
Friday evening the busses will drive to the Copenhagen Zoo, where the social event will take place, but the last bus, will take people to the hostel.
The bus time schedule will be as follows:
Friday morning : 8:00 and at 8:45
Friday evening : 18:00 (for Zoo, approx. 18:30 for hostel)
Saturday morning : 8:00 and at 8:30
Saturday evening : 19:00
For the morning busses we strongly advise to go for the early bus.
If everyone tries to take the late bus there won't be enough seats, and some will be left behind.
To go to Symbion (the conference venue) at your own time, you have several options.
We suggest that you use Journey Planner (Rejseplanen) and fill in the time you wish to travel. The trip will take 35-40 minutes.
